Toolroll
Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 October 2026
Toolroll is a snippet vault for iPhone and iPad. It stores short pieces of text, files and images you save, and helps you retrieve them quickly.
Toolroll does not send your snippet content to us, RevenueCat, or an analytics service. There is no Toolroll account or sign-in, no analytics of your snippets, typing, or app usage, and no advertising or tracking. Apple and RevenueCat process purchase history to sell, unlock and restore the one-time purchase; RevenueCat also processes the purchase record to provide Toolroll with purchase analytics.
Where your snippets are stored
Your vault is stored on your device in Toolroll's private App Group storage. The Toolroll app, keyboard, share extension and Home Screen widget use that storage to reach the same local vault. Toolroll does not operate a server for snippet content.
If you use iCloud device backup, iOS may include Toolroll's local data in that backup, as it does for other app data. That backup is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.
Purchases
Toolroll offers a one-time purchase to unlock Pro. Apple processes the payment and keeps its own transaction record; Toolroll never sees your payment details. RevenueCat records the purchase history needed to unlock Pro and restore that purchase on your other devices. RevenueCat also processes the record to provide Toolroll with purchase analytics.
This purchase record is tied to the purchase, not to your snippets. Toolroll does not send snippet content to RevenueCat. If you enable iCloud device backup, Apple may hold a backup as described above. No snippet content is stored on a Toolroll server.
RevenueCat acts as Toolroll's data processor and is contractually required to protect purchase data with the same or an equivalent level of privacy protection described in this policy. RevenueCat retains the purchase record while Toolroll uses its service, unless we delete it sooner at your request. RevenueCat may keep data only where necessary to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce its agreements.
You may withdraw consent to consent-based processing where applicable, or request deletion of RevenueCat's purchase record, by emailing [email protected]. We will ask RevenueCat to clear its customer record and purchase history. This does not delete the transaction record Apple retains. You can still restore Pro later with the same Apple Account; restoring sends Apple's transaction to RevenueCat again and recreates the RevenueCat purchase record.
System search
Toolroll adds a limited label for each reachable snippet to your device's search index so you can find it from Spotlight. An authored title is indexed; a snippet without one is labeled Untitled Snippet
. The index also receives the snippet type and pin ranking as search metadata. Bodies, tags, full URLs, attachment filenames and activity dates are not indexed. The index is maintained by iOS on your device, and deleting a snippet in Toolroll removes it from that index.
The keyboard extension
The Toolroll keyboard asks for Full Access. Reading the vault and inserting saved text work without it. Full Access enables three Toolroll vault behaviors: saving selected text from the keyboard, recording snippet use for ranking, and resolving {clipboard} fill-ins. When you grant it, iOS will still show a strongly worded warning.
The Toolroll keyboard does not record, collect, or transmit what you type. Although iOS grants broader keyboard capabilities with Full Access, the Toolroll keyboard does not make network requests.
You can use Toolroll without granting Full Access. The keyboard will simply have less it can do.
The share extension
When you share text, a link, an image or a file into Toolroll from another app, Toolroll saves it to your local vault. Toolroll does not upload it.
The widget
The Home Screen widget can show snippets you pinned or snippets with a tag you choose. It displays each matching snippet's title and type, not its full body or attachment. Widget cards open the matching detail in Toolroll and do not copy anything to the clipboard.
Copying
When you copy a text snippet, Toolroll places its text on the system clipboard. Copying an image places a bounded image on that clipboard; files instead use Share or Save to Files. Via Apple's Universal Clipboard, copied Toolroll snippet text or images may reach other devices signed in to the same Apple Account; your vault itself stays on your device. When you deliberately insert a snippet containing a {clipboard} fill-in, the keyboard reads the current clipboard to resolve that placeholder. The resolved clipboard text is kept transiently and is not transmitted.
Children
Toolroll is not directed at children. It does not collect snippet content or track anyone.
Deleting your data
Deleting a snippet removes it from your local vault and from system search. Deleting the Toolroll app removes the local vault, including snippets saved through its keyboard or share extension. Existing iCloud device backups and the Apple and RevenueCat purchase record used for restoration are managed separately.
Toolroll never receives your snippet content, so there is no copy of it on a Toolroll server to delete.
Deleting the app does not delete purchase records held by Apple or RevenueCat. To request deletion of RevenueCat's record, use the email address in the Purchases section above.
