Common questions

Where are my snippets stored?
On your device, in Toolroll's own private storage. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account to sign into. See the privacy policy.

Why does the keyboard ask for Full Access?
iOS requires that permission before a keyboard can reach your saved snippets. Toolroll uses it only to read your snippets and to save text you choose to keep. It does not record what you type. You can use Toolroll without granting it — the keyboard will just do less.

Can I get my snippets out?
Yes. Everything exports as Markdown, one file per snippet, so your content is never trapped in the app.

Does the Home Screen widget show my snippet contents?
No. The widget shows titles only, so nothing private appears on a screen someone else might glance at.

Does Toolroll sync between my devices?
Not yet. Snippets live on the device where you saved them. If you use iCloud device backups, your snippets are included in that backup.

Reporting a bug

Email the address above with what you expected to happen, what actually happened, and the steps to repeat it. If it involves the keyboard or the widget, saying which one and whether Full Access is enabled saves a round trip.
