Toolroll
Privacy Policy
Last updated 24 August 2026
Toolroll is a snippet vault for iPhone and iPad. It stores short pieces of text, files and images you save, and helps you retrieve them quickly.
Toolroll does not collect your data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, and no advertising. Toolroll has no server. Your snippets are never transmitted anywhere.
Where your snippets are stored
Everything you save stays on your device, in Toolroll's own private storage area. That storage is shared between the Toolroll app and its extensions โ the keyboard, the share sheet, and the Home Screen widget โ so they can all reach the same snippets. Nothing outside Toolroll can read it.
If you use iCloud device backups, your Toolroll data is included in that backup, the same as other apps' data. That backup is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.
System search
Toolroll adds your snippets to your device's own search index so you can find them from Spotlight. That index is maintained by iOS on your device. Deleting a snippet in Toolroll removes it from that index.
The keyboard extension
The Toolroll keyboard asks for Full Access. This is the permission iOS requires before a keyboard can reach the app's stored snippets, and Toolroll uses it for exactly that: to read your saved snippets so you can insert one, and to save selected text you choose to keep.
The Toolroll keyboard does not record, collect, or transmit what you type. It has no network access and sends nothing anywhere.
You can use Toolroll without granting Full Access. The keyboard will simply have less it can do.
The share extension
When you share text or a file into Toolroll from another app, Toolroll saves it to your snippet storage on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere.
The widget
The Home Screen widget displays the titles of snippets you have pinned. It never shows snippet contents.
Copying
When you copy a snippet, Toolroll places that text on your device's clipboard so you can paste it. That is the same system clipboard every app uses, and Toolroll does not read your clipboard to see what other apps have put there.
Children
Toolroll is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
Deleting your data
Deleting a snippet removes it from your device and from system search. Deleting the Toolroll app removes all of your snippets, including anything saved by its extensions.
There is nothing for us to delete on our side, because we never receive it.
